International Master Classes evocatively entitled Music on the Seashore, enmeshes multiple goals for participants.
The chosen date – summer break – paired with the geographical location in the north tip of Portugal, offers an efficient way to say adieu to the school year and at the same time, to acquire new and invaluable knowledge of musical interpretation under the guidance of best world-class teachers and artists. Filled with new ideas and artistic creativity, students are prepared for their upcoming musical season.

Founded in August 1988, the Academia de Música Fernandes Fão (AMFF) started its work in the music field since the academic year of 1988/1989. AMFF never stoped to reach the goals to which its work is devoted and possesses now pedagogic autonomy in order to teach music in both articulate and supplementary regimes from basic to secondary levels of study. It also offers applications for early beginners and free courses.
After 30 years of extensive work, the AMFF has already national recognition. It is known as na institution whose cultural worth is well known, especially due to the high standards it has settled for its students and the dozens of national and international prizes they have won. The AMFF also encourages the organization of masterclasses and pays attention to the curriculum and the experience of its guest teachers. Those masterclasses are seeked by students from basic to superior levels and from the entire country. An event that frequently stoods among all the intiatives of the AMFF is the Concurso Ibérico de Piano (Iberian Piano Competition) which takes annually and attracts participants mostly from Portugal, Spain and Italy; it is also important to mention the Concurso Nacional de Sopros (National Wind Instruments Competition), which is taking part for the last three years. Finally, the AMFF has an importante role in the cultural dynamic of the region, promoting both portuguese and foreign musicians/composers, always directly approaching diferente types of Music and Arts.
The AMFF welcomes almost 1400 students from five regions of northern Portugal - Caminha, Ponte de Lima, Viana do Castelo, Vila Nova de Cerveira and Melgaço.
The origin and broad geographical distribution of the alumni implies a huge mobilization of human and material resources, which is only obtain thanks to the effort and dedication of all its employees.

Vila Praia de Âncora is a beautiful fishing village in municipality of Camiña, one of the most famous in the Miñota region, located in the north of Portugal on the Atlantic coast and at the Âncora river estuary.
Surrounded by great natural beauty and varied megalithic monuments Vila Praia de Âncora presents vestiges of human occupation since the Paleolithic period. At the time of Roman occupation it was an important town due to the extraction of minerals from the Âncora river.
Main attraction of the town are Fort of Vila Praia de Âncora, Fort of Lagarteira of the seventeenth century, Fort of Cão, Parish Church of Vila Praia de Âncora, Calvary Chapel and other religious heritage.
The beautiful surrounding natural landscapes, beautiful beach, restaurants with local specialities, and various leisure and sport activities attract large number of visitors, especially during the summer season.
